New York, April 20, 2020 –Sutton Place Strategies (SPS) sponsored a webinar on April 16th titled, Sourcing Strategies for Uncertain Times from ‘Best in Class’ Deal Originators, moderated by David Toll of Private Equity Career Week.
CEO of SPS, Nadim Malik, spoke at the webinar joined by three firms, including PE firms who’d achieved the “SPS Best-in-Class Deal Originator” designation and a prominent Investment Banker, to discuss how top originators are adapting to rapidly changing market conditions.
Malik discussed the overall state of the M&A market, drawing on SPS data to highlight trends in PE activity over the past several years across various sectors, deal types, and participants. He then juxtaposed that deal activity data against historical deal activity and EBITDA purchase multiples from prior recessionary periods. The conclusion being that COVID-19 related disruption will present great investing opportunities in the months and years ahead. With tools such as the ability to mine pipeline data for stale & broken processes, target secondary buy out and carve out opportunities, and identify turnaround-focused sell-side advisors; SPS gives Business Development professionals the tools they need to source effectively during these unprecedented times.
In addition speakers Heather Madland of Huron Capital, David Ramazetti of Vector Capital, and Sam Valenzisi of Lincoln International discussed the current market, ways their firms are adapting, and fielded challenging questions from the audience.
