New York, July 29, 2021 – Sutton Place Strategies (SPS) sponsored a webinar on Thursday, July 29th titled, How to Win Top Deals in Consumer, Business Services, moderated by David Toll of Private Equity Career Week.
CEO of SPS, Nadim Malik, was joined by speakers Laura Holden of Raymond James, Justin Loeb of Clearsight Advisors, and Gretchen Perkins of Avance Investment Management as they discussed identifying targets with adjacent growth potential, efficient ways to automate PE Deal Origination, and more in the Consumer and Business Services sectors.
Malik discussed the state of the M&A market through the first half of 2021, starting with the relative strength of M&A activity where SPS has recorded an overall increase of approximately 40% in completed deal volume compared to the first half of 2020, and an increase of approximately 16% when compared to the first half of 2019. Private equity firms led the way, with sponsor acquisitions up 57% year-over-year compared to corporate activity being up 26%. Alongside the increase in deals closed, sponsor dealflow hit its apex in Q2 2021 with a median of 227 deals originated, eclipsing the prior record of 207, set in Q2 of 2019, by nearly 10%.
